GOOD FORTUNE
Very good idea web site. Allow us travelers to know what is a better deal to pick.
I suggest to allow regular traveler to write their latest flight experiences. On which, TripAdvisor lacks the airline experiences we need to select better bookings.
For examples, I am regular traveler across the Pacific, at least monthly. Singapore Airlines put a large box under the coach seats eliminates 1/3 of my toe room. Very bad for travelers over 6 ft for flight 14 to 16 hours.
United limits online purchased tickets to seats only in the middle, that is why they do not give windows or aisle seats for tickets even 3 months advance booking. That is very unfair and if I know I would never purchase those tickets for my large family.
Please fill in the blank to help us select the better travel bookings.
Please put me on your waiting list.
I also think it’d be a great idea to incorporate families traveling with kids into your selection process. For example, if you select “traveling with kids”, flights with long layovers or without preselected seats or multiple stops would be rated lower. Just a thought from a parent of a toddler!
Well, let’s see. I haven’t used InsideTrip yet, and i’m looking forward to seeing if it provides any value. With regard to Carrie’s thoughts (I, too, have a toddler), the place to go is kayak.com — you can control your search by length of layover, number of stops, where the layover occurs, etc.
Jerry - I think you need to be looking at SeatGuru.com. I know what you’re talking about, but have seen the problem in int’l NW flights. Now I use SeatGuru.com to help figure out what seats will work. I’m not sure what you mean about only being able to buy center seats online (if I understood correctly) — that’d be just crazy talk, since obviously every airline wants people to buy online.
Not sure I see the value in InsideTrip yet, since I don’t know how you could rate individual trips, but I look forward to giving it a try.
Why is Southwest Airlines not included?
Hi Dusty and thanks for your question. Southwest’s primary distribution strategy is to sell virtually all tickets through their own website. This is why you can’t buy tickets on them through Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, or any other third party site.
This site is a breath of fresh air! Finally there is a travel site that actually does something more than just compare prices. When’s the IPO?
Good Luck!
One thing seems to be missing from the options for business travelers - Is there a way to check multi-city itineraries?
For now, since we are in beta mode, my suggestion is to search each leg of your journey as a one way. Once you have decided on your options you can use the Orbitz “flights” tab to enter and book your multi-destination trip. We will definitely keep track of your suggestion for multi-city trips going forward.
Great start… You have upped the bar for the guys like Kayak and such… One item I wish someone would integrate is a “mileage runner” button for those of us who are trying to reach different status’s in the 4th quarter… My sleep number is 73 but my TripQuality number is 82….
Wow, after taking a quick glance at the site I liked it and was just about to forward a link to my colleagues whom travel quite a bit but then I saw Dusty’s question in this blog and more importantly your answer. If this is meant to be a valuable information source then it should not exclude any airline - I’m assuming your providing unbiased evaluations of the airports you are evaluating even though you aren’t getting compensated by them. So, aside from SW, are there any other US based airlines that are excluded?
I did a quick check using your website on a return trip from Brisbane Australia to Bangkok.
Your cheapest fare was with Malaysia Air and was much more expensive than Thai Air which your site did not mention.
The Thai air fare was direct from their website, in Ausralian dollars and included all taxes.
